Doug and I grew up together in the same neighborhood and attended the same schools.He was easygoing and fun to be around.Nothing ever seemed to bother him.He was a great friend and I'm saddened at his early departure,but look forward to seeing him and our other departed classmates on the other side!
I spent one day during Kindergarten at the TV station celebrating Doug's 5th birthday with our class. Doug's family hosted us on the Johnny Evans Show....Johnny's sidekick was Tex, the ventriloquist dummy. I remember that event so vividly! We ate Little Henry hamburgers, drank Dr. Pepper, ate a Krispy Kreme doughnut & got to, not only watch cartoons that were on during the show, but see ourselves on the tv monitors. Big stuff. Doug was our neighbor & my classmate during a number of years. He was a kind person, a gentle spirit in the neighborhood & at school. Rest in peace, Doug.
